Extracellular Matrix reconstructs tissue using the patients cells. It is commonly used in heart procedures to cover up the pericardium in younger patients as their chances of getting a redo is high. The reason that covering up the pericardium is imperative is because if not done, the redo procedure take a lot more time as some of the heart tissue sticks to the bottom of the rib cage, etc.
